SHAWN RHODEN THE REIGNING Mr.OLYMPIA CHARGED OF RAPE AND HAS BEEN BANNED FROM OLYMPIA 2019
Bodybuilder ShawnRhoden has lost his eligibility for the 2019 Mr. Olympia contest one day after he was charged with raping a fellow woman bodybuilder who considered him as a mentor in a Utah hotel room.
Rhoden also nicknamed Shawn"Flexatron Rhoden, currently holds the title of Mr. Olympia, and was awarded annually in an international bodybuilding competition affiliated with the IFBB Pro League.
Rhoden, 44, was charged on Thursday in 3rd District Court with rape, object rape and forcible sexual abuse. According to court documents, Rhoden was visiting Utah from southern california on 12 October 2018 when a fellow female bodybuilder came to visit him in the hotel.
The woman told police that Rhoden started kissing her and touching her inapproprietely. As per charging documents the woman stated that Rhoden forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her, despite her trying to push him away and telling him repeatedly to stop. He continued touching her sexually and raped her.
She said Rhoden finally stopped and let her leave when she told him she needed to go downstairs or else an acquaintance waiting in the lobby would know "something (was) up,".
A warrant for his arrest was issued on Thursday after the DNA sample found on the woman's body was matched to Rhoden.
The American Media LLC Chairman CEO David J. Pecker reacted to this and announced in a statement made Friday that he is revoking the eligibility of 2018 Mr.Olympia Shawn rhoden in the competition this year and in future years. Rhoden had won the title of Mr. Olympia in 2018.
American Media further announced that it would "suspend coverage" of Rhoden in its media brands, including "Muscle & Fitness" and "Flex" magazines until the case has been resolved.
